We are thrilled with the tremendous opportunity to learn from the Honorable Bernice B. Donald for our Yom Kippur Symposium this year. Judge Donald will be speaking about her own personal story, and the story of our country, through the lens of how we allow our wounds to help shape who we are on the path to justice. It promises to be a powerful and meaningful session, enhancing our Yom Kippur holiday. Judge Donald retired in January 2023 from the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, after being nominated by President Obama and confirmed in 2011. She sat on the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee and served as Judge of U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Tennessee. She has served on faculty for numerous international programs and lectured around the globe. She has won over 100 awards for professional, civic, and community activities. She is a graduate of the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.
Her motto is: Each day is a gift from God —the service that we render is our gift to God.
