YOI TOKI [A FUTURE FUNK/VAPORWAVE PARTY]

Yoi Toki is back in NYC for a night of Future Funk insanity.

Future Funk is a Vaporwave subgenre that emerged around 2010 (championed by artists such as Yung Bae, Night Tempo and Macross 82-99). It draws from 70s disco, disco house, vaporwave and Japanese City Pop influences, resulting in a sound that is upbeat, insanely danceable, very disco and very funky. Future Funk's aesthetic is a nostraligic mix 90s anime and '80s consumer culture (the fact that it is somehow descended from Vaporwave goes some way in explaining the familiar and yet strangely unique sound and visuals).
Yoi Toki is all about celebrating the sounds of Future Funk, a genre that blends retro anime aesthetics, the grooves of 70s Disco, Funk and Japanese City Pop, with modern electronic music production techniques. Emerging around the 2010s, this sound is designed for the dancefloor - a mix of past and present, creating a unique feel-good, upbeat, and energetic exeperience.
