Join us for a whirlwind tour of texts, teachers, and traditions from 5000+ years ago to the ever-changing modern moment. We will sort through the (mis/dis)information in yoga’s past and current expressions to learn about "what happened." This exploration will inspire you to think more about all personal and community histories. Includes an introduction to Sanskrit, the language of yoga, and key texts from a range of time periods: Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutras, and Tantras.Lecture and Q&A discussion. Discover ancient yogic literature, art, Sanskrit terms, and more. 5000+ year timeline and additional handouts provided.

Marcy Braverman Goldstein, Ph.D. has taught world religions and the language, history, and wisdom traditions of yoga at University of California at Riverside, Davidson College, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Loyola Marymount University’s Yoga Studies Program, the Stan Greenspon Holocaust and Social Justice Education Center, and Embodied Philosophy. As Founder and Creative Director of Sanskrit Revolution, Marcy teaches at yoga studios nationally. Drawing from her academic background and experience as a yoga instructor, Marcy creates broad ranging, engaging classes that deepen people’s knowledge, sharpen critical thinking, and inspire personal growth.
