The roots of yoga nidra involving systematic rotation of consciousness in the body originate from the tantric process of nyasa (meaning ‘to place’ or ‘to take the mind to a point’).
Scientific evidence points to an increase in endogenous dopomine release in the ventral striatum of the brain during yoga nidra. Yoga nidra improves heart rate variability, a measure of balance in the autonomous nervous system.
