This 2-session Adaptive Yoga For Seniors training is designed to give practitioners the tools to effectively lead seniors through an accessible, safe, and enjoyable chair-based yoga practice. The program is designed for yoga teachers, but other health professionals and caregivers are welcomed.Approved by Yoga Alliance for 12 hours Continuing Education (CE) credits
Our presenter, Paul Weitz, E-RYT 500, has been teaching yoga to seniors and those with limited mobility for over 25 years, and he has learned that yoga has the power to meet people where they are, regardless of ability. Many senior students have reported functional improvement physically and mentally, relief from pain, and an elevated sense of well-being from practicing yoga consistently. He has witnessed a surprising level of commitment and focus among seniors and an ability to internalize the benefits for greater peace of mind, despite the challenges of aging. A real sense of community grows in the classroom over time with connection, care and warmth growing between students in the positive atmosphere of the yoga class. This is so essential to staying engaged and healthy at any age!
