About this Event
Elevate your evening with art and wine! Join Larry Geni and Robyn McMurray Hurtig for an evening of art at our beautiful Evanston location. Join us in celebrating these local artists and their wonderful work.
About Larry Geni:
I started drawing and painting at a young age, but when I got married and assumed all the responsibilities of raising a family, I stopped for many years. It was only when my wife convinced me to join a local Gilbert and Sullivan community theater group that I discovered the joys of creating and painting sets. Working on that large a scale at that speed was liberating, and after a while I decided to return to working with oil paints and canvasses. Since I've retired from the classroom (I taught physics at Evanston Township High School for many years), I've found more time to engage in the arts. I've also done a lot more traveling, and when I travel, I take lots of photographs with the idea of making paintings of them firmly in mind.

About Robyn McMurry Hurtig:
Coming from a line of women painters, I’m honored to carry it forward as an abstract expressionist artist with a passion for nature, travel, and all the colors and textures we come across in our daily walks and observations.
I'm always finding shapes and colors around me and intuitively include those inspirations in my paintings. I work mostly with acrylics and collages, but I like to add mark-making through pastels, watercolors, oils, and whatever strikes my fancy, and whatever the painting seems to be asking for. I believe in creating a dialogue with my paintings where we have an interactive conversation together--a call and response.
I've been focused on painting and taking courses for the past 13 years. I'm continually growing, experimenting, and working on my craft. I've exhibited in local art shows and sold my art through word of mouth, commissions, and art fairs.
Art fills my soul and I am happy you are here!
