In this workshop Pam will take you on a head to toe journey looking at how yoga can help you to address the tightness and imbalances that can occur in the body as a result of regular running or hiking.
Whilst regular yogis are very welcome, non yogis who may think that yoga is just stretching and only for bendy people are encouraged to come along and give yoga a try. The workshop will give you some ideas to build into your pre and post run/hike routines that will help you to keep doing what you love to do. You'll hopefully have some fun too!!
Whether you're an elite runner, love a wander up the fells, attend a gym or just starting your fitness journey or don't run at all but want to explore the tightness in your body- this workshop is for you!
Running/walking is a fantastic cardiovascular workout that floods the body with feel good endorphins. However, the repetitive motion of running and or walking can tax a few muscle groups (calves, hamstrings, quads and hip flexors), whilst underusing others.
Over time this imbalance can trigger injuries and have a negative impact on running performance. Yoga can address this by re-establishing balance, lengthening short muscles, mobilising joints and strengthening under-used weak muscles to create more stability in the body.
Pam is a 200 hour yoga instructor with an additional qualification in Sports Yoga. In this workshop Pam will work through all the key muscles and joints impacted by running using yoga postures to lengthen, strengthen and mobilise as appropriate. No prior experience of yoga is necessary to participate in this workshop which aims to be helpful, informative and fun!
