Yoga Calm: Yoga & Mindfulness for Unique Minds

This nurturing yoga, meditation, and mindfulness class is thoughtfully designed for children with special needs, including autism and Asperger’s. In a calm, welcoming environment, children are invited to move, breathe, and express themselves in ways that feel safe, empowering, and joyful.
Using simple language, clear structure, and predictable routines, each class gently guides children through:
Creating a Safe Space
Through guided imagery and visualization, children learn to build an inner “safe place” they can return to anytime they need comfort, calm, or confidence.
Breathwork for Big Feelings
Easy, playful breathing exercises help children recognize and regulate big emotions. Visual cues, props, and repetition support learning how to slow the body, quiet the mind, and feel steady again.
Yoga for Focus & Body Awareness
Simple, accessible yoga poses improve coordination, balance, and body awareness. Movement is paired with songs and imagery to increase focus, engagement, and enjoyment.
Empowered Communication
All forms of expression are honored—verbal, nonverbal, movement-based, artistic, or emotional. Children practice identifying feelings, setting gentle personal boundaries, and communicating needs in ways that feel authentic and safe.
Kindness & Community
The foundation of this class is kindness—to oneself and to others. Children learn that every person is unique, valuable, and important. We celebrate differences and practice patience, compassion, and respect.
With soft transitions, visual supports, sensory-friendly options, and an emphasis on choice, this class creates a predictable and comforting rhythm. Each child is encouraged to participate at their own pace, honoring their individual needs and strengths.
This is more than a yoga class—it is a supportive space where children can feel seen, understood, and empowered to be exactly who they are.
Recommended for ages 6 -10. Some caregiver participation may be required.
