Monthly Gentle Yoga, Chat and Cake for adults who are Hard of Hearing.
In a safe space, we will move and breathe together through a gentle yoga practice formed around a theme each month. We will build strength and resilience, crucial for navigating life with hearing loss, through grounding and stable foundations; reduce listening fatigue, “brain noise” and stress through mindfulness practices, and find stillness in meditation. As we chat over tea and cake we will build the community aspect of yoga which can help reduce the feelings of isolation that can accompany hearing loss.
Accessibility:
*No previous experience of yoga is needed.
*Mats, chairs, props and blankets are provided.
*The mat positions for this class will ensure that students will be able to access lip-reading.
*The class will be supported by a flip-chart on an easel showing colour-coded poses and directions.
*The teacher will use easy to follow hand gestures and visual demonstrations to guide you through the practice.
*You will be provided with a handout, containing the yoga we practice in class, which you can take home.
Tea, Cake and Chat :
Herbal teas and cake will be available at no extra cost.

About Laura :
Laura loves Yoga and believes that her practice has played a big part in helping her to embrace her hard of hearing identity.
As a yoga teacher, Laura is passionate about helping to make yoga more accessible to others who identify with being Hard of Hearing. Being hard of hearing can leave people feeling as though they are caught in between the hearing world and the Deaf community not really belonging to either.
Laura understands the potential difficulties one may encounter, due to the reduced ability to hear, when attending regular yoga classes. This and the feelings of isolation that can occur when living with some degree of hearing loss led Laura to decide to set up a yoga class, which includes a social aspect, specifically for the Hard of Hearing.
Laura has been teaching yoga in the community and through private one to one classes for 5 years. She currently teaches students with hearing and students who are hard of hearing. She trained at OrangeYoga and achieved her RYT 500 Advanced Teacher status in January 2025.
