About this Event
Once you have paid you will receive an email with a form linking to Big Muddy Adventures to get further information to ensure a successful trip (dietary restrictions, height, weight, date of birth, emergency contact etc).
We’ll meet at a convenient location downtown and shuttle you to our put in upstream on the Mighty Mississippi. Our expert guides will provide you with everything you need for the adventure and help you board one of our extraordinary voyageur canoes.
Remember, no paddling experience or special equipment is necessary, we’ve got you covered! Our trip will begin with a glimpse of the famous Chain of Rocks Bridge, part of the famed Route 66, and the bridge that enabled travelers to cross the Mississippi. Our route takes us into the only non-navigable reach of the river to a pristine island where we’ll enjoy a 30 minute Yoga class (no mats needed!) & enjoy lunch on a sandbar and have the chance to spot wildlife and take a dip in the muddy waters of the Mississippi River.
We’ll continue on into the port of St. Louis where we’ll see our setting quickly transition from natural to built. We'll pass beneath five awesome, contemporary and famous historic bridges, while learning about some notable historic landmarks, and catching incredible views of some of St. Louis’s oldest riverfront buildings. The trip ends with an unbeatable, from the river, view of the Gateway Arch and lands us on the historic landing of downtown St. Louis. This is a wonderful “only in St. Louis” experience you will never forget!
Summary: From the put in to Mosenthein Island will be approximately 20minutes to paddle, 30minutes for the yoga and then 1.5 hours to paddle 8miles to our final destination.
Who is this trip best for? - 18+. This is a great trip for anyone interested in the Mississippi River, wild river islands, historic architecture, or the Great River City of St. Louis.
Where and when does this trip start and end? - This trip meets up at 10 am in a convenient location in downtown St. Louis and ends around 3:30-4pm on the levee in front of The Arch. We will communicate the meet up location 2 days before the trip.
What is included in this trip? - All necessary safety and paddling gear- life jackets, paddles, canoes, Big Muddy Adventures guides, shuttling to our starting location, and lunch! (most dietary restrictions accommodated)
What do I need to bring? - Personal gear- sun protection, bug spray, rain wear if necessary, water bottle, swimsuit (weather permitting), appropriate footwear (sandals, no flip flops, or tennis shoes you don’t mind getting wet) & cash to tip your awesome guides.
