Join us for a hands-on exploration of motion and engineering! In this interactive STEAM Lab, kids will build their own rubber band–powered cars using cardboard, skewers, bottle caps, and simple materials. Participants will test their cars on flat surfaces and ramps, make predictions about speed and distance, and experiment with different designs to see whose car goes the farthest and fastest.Along the way, we’ll explore concepts like potential and kinetic energy, forces, motion, and how design changes can affect performance. Kids will collect data, analyze results, and make evidence-based decisions to improve their car designs—just like real engineers!
This STEAM Lab is designed for kids in grades 2–5 and promotes hands-on discovery, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in a fun, engaging environment. Register online, at the Youth Desk, or call 928.777.1537.
Prescott Public Library and Yavapai Exploration and Science are teaming up to offer school-age children a chance to experience STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) through interactive and engaging activities. Presented with funding from the Friends of the Prescott Public.
