Join us for a whirlwind of weather science! In this interactive STEAM Lab, kids will build their own anemometers to measure wind speed and create mini tornadoes in jars to explore spinning vortexes. Participants will predict, observe, and record how wind and air movement make their instruments spin and how swirling water forms a tornado.Along the way, we’ll explore how scientists measure weather, why wind occurs, and how tornadoes form. Kids will also get a chance to decorate their anemometers and record their observations in a Weather Lab Journal, combining creativity with hands-on science.
This STEAM Lab is designed for kids in grades 2–5 and promotes engineering skills, observation, critical thinking, and scientific fun. Register online, at the Youth Desk, or call 928.777.1537.
Prescott Public Library and Yavapai Exploration and Science are teaming up to offer school-age children a chance to experience STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) through interactive and engaging activities. Presented with funding from the Friends of the Prescott Public.
