The NIU Observatory is planning a tour to visit the Yerkes Observatory in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, on April 25th, 2026. Yerkes is a wonderfully historic building, and is home to the worlds largest refracting telescope. Participants will enjoy a 90 minute tour of the building and grounds, followed by time to explore scenic downtown Lake Geneva. Tickets are $25 per person, and transportation to and from the event will be provided by the NIU Observatory. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. Please contact [email protected] for more info!We will meet at NIU at 11am, and plan to leave campus by 11:15am, and arrive at Yerkes around 12:45. Our tour is from 1-2:30pm. Following the tour and free time we will meet to head back to DeKalb at 4:30pm and should return to campus around 6pm.
