About this Event
YBM research paper dinner event
At this event, we will be discussing the findings from our report in partnership with Coffee Afrik commissioned by London’s Violence Reduction Unit, which highlights the need for immediate public health-led interventions to support Black & Asian Communities in Tower Hamlets. Violence is a public health emergency, and we must take action now. We will explore how community-led policy creation, youth empowerment, and early intervention in specific wards can drive meaningful change. We will also address the urgent need to reform alternative schools, ensuring they are safe, supportive spaces rather than places where young people feel stigmatized or harmed.
Our discussion will emphasise the importance of data-driven decision-making, family-based care, and restorative justice. Research must be more than extractive; it must lead to real action that benefits young people. We will also highlight how recognising intersecting identities is key to providing the right support. Today’s event is about demanding systemic change and ensuring that the young people of Tower Hamlets see real transformation and liberation in their lifetimes.
