Looking for a fun, relaxing evening learning a new craft? Come and create your own macrame keyring in our beginner-friendly workshop! What is the Art of Macrame? Macrame is a centuries-old craft that involves knotting cords or threads to create intricate patterns and designs. Originating as a functional technique for sailors and artisans, macrame has evolved into a versatile and expressive art form, used to create everything from decorative wall hangings and plant holders to jewellery and keyrings. What makes macrame so special is its accessibility and meditative nature. With just a few simple knots, you can create stunning designs while enjoying the calming rhythm of the process. It's the perfect way to combine creativity with relaxation, offering a moment of mindfulness.
Led by Emma Clements, the creative mind behind Bear & Buddy, this session is perfect for anyone who loves handmade crafts or wants to try something new. Emma is an experienced artist, upholsterer, and maker with a passion for helping others tap into their creativity. What you'll learn: The basics of macrame and how to craft a beautiful, functional keyring to take home. What's included: All materials, guidance, and a calming, creative atmosphere.
The workshop is free for YAY mates members, and materials will be provided. As usual, a huge thank you to Brentwood Borough Council for their support. YAY mates Edge of Essex is currently funded by UKSPF. Make sure you book to avoid disappointment!

Finding Brentwood Theatre by car:

Parking for our guests is available in nearby streets or local public car parks such as William Hunter Way, which is about five minutes’ walk away, next to Sainsbury’s. For more details and parking charges please visit Brentwood Borough Council’s website.
Finding Brentwood Theatre by train:
The Theatre is located almost the same distance from Shenfield and Brentwood stations. Both are approximately a 20 minutes walk away, or 5 minutes by taxi. If you are travelling from Stratford or London Liverpool Street, it is often quicker to take a fast train to Shenfield than the TFL line to Brentwood, although the fare may be more expensive. For train times, please check Trainline website which will also display prices.
