Cactusville are a gypsy jazz quartet specialising in the more mellow side of the genre created by Stephane Grapelli and Django Reinhardt. Expect plenty of ballads, obscure Latin tunes, and a good number of hot swing tunes for dancing.
Formed from the ashes of previous bands Tcha! and Appel4, and featuring current members of The Yorkshire Gypsy Swing Collective, The 309s, and The Northern Star Organ Trio, the name derives from a bad joke mixing Thornton (“Thorn-town” - home of half the band) and the Django tune Belleville. Cactusville are: Ian Tothill (Violin), Rob Bromhead and Derek Magee (guitars), and Manny McKenzie (Double Bass).
