Westside Youth Orchestra returns to Veterans Memorial Auditorium on May 16, 2026.
From the joyous rhythms of “Bouncing Kangaroo” to the mysterious melodies of “Wondrous Whale” to the hair-raising harmonies of “Brilliant Bat,” the nearly two dozen movements of Wild Symphony correspond to an animal featured in the picture book.
Westside Youth Orchestra was the first in California to perform "Wild Symphony.” The performance includes narrator and animal images projected on a large screen behind the orchestra. Dan Brown wrote the book and music specifically for a young audience to inspire them to attend live classical concerts.

The award winning Westside Youth Orchestra and Westside Youth Orchestra Juniors, showcase the musical achievements of its outstanding young musicians in the Los Angeles area. Westside Youth Orchestra’s goal is to provide a high level, well-rounded orchestral experience to musically dedicated young musicians between 10 and 19 years of age.
If you’ve never been in an orchestra, then WYO Junior is for you. The class is open to children between 6 and 10 years of age with a minimum of one year experience on violin, viola, cello, double bass and harp.
