Analyzing the demand for therapy among adolescents at a university hospital, I will revisit Lacan’s theory of the discourses to better understand different clinical approaches encountered in our practice, thereby advancing a hypothesis. Identifying these differences, I will exemplify our hypothesis with a clinical case.

Sonia Alberti
is a Full Professor at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), Researcher at the National Council for Research (CNPq) in Brazil, and Member (A.M.E.) of the School of Psychoanalysis of the Forums of the Lacanian Field. She completed her doctoral studies at the University of Paris-Nanterre (1989) andconducted postdoctoral research at the Institute of Psychiatry at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She is one of the founders of the Residency in Clinical and Institutional Psychology at the Hospital Pedro Ernesto (UERJ), supervising psychologists to this day, and one of the founders of the Graduate College in Psychoanalysis (PGPSA/UERJ) for Master and Doctoral studies, directing research. Besides publishing many articles, she has published two books on adolescence, one on the history of psychology in Brazil, and is the editor of many other volumes. She is a psychoanalyst practicing in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
