MARCH CAMP/ RIDE NOTICESmythesdale Gardens 35 Garden Street Smythesdale – Friday 20th – Sunday 22nd March 2026
Saturday Muster will be at 11am riding out at 11:15am the ride will be around 3 hours (20km) along quiet bush tracks, the rail trail and roadside verges. We will stop along the way for a short break so bring a snack and drink.
Sunday muster will be at 9am riding out at 9:15am: the ride will be around 2 hours (15km) along quiet bush tracks.
A medium pace is suggested for both days riders should be able to walk, trot and canter in a group situation
Riders should ensure the rider in front always remains visible.
General:
Camping is at the Smythesdale Gardens Camping Reserve; there is ample water available for horses. Toilets and showers are available. You will need secure horse yards.
Camp fee applies at $5 per person per night.
Please bring some firewood for the communal fire.
Camping is at the far end of the reserve to the left after you pass the toilet block. We have been asked to put horse yards around the boundary or under trees to avoid messing up the main camping area.
Please note this is a popular camp site and we will be sharing it with other campers so please clean up all manure and hay before departing, be prepared to take manure home with you if need be.
BYO all food and drink.
Dinner Saturday night will be at the Courthouse Hotel Smythesdale (within walking distance of camp).

All riders (both members and day riders) please be familiar with Athra’s Code of Conduct. Go to www.athra.com.au and click on Governance.
WTHRC does not allow stallions.
Juniors must wear a riding helmet. WTHRC recommends that everyone wears a helmet.
Safe riding clothing and shoes must be worn. (No chunky soles). Please ensure riding equipment is in safe condition.
Please ensure that horses are well behaved and in control.
Kickers to be identified at Muster and must wear a red ribbon in tail on the rides. (provide your own)
Mobile phones are encouraged to be carried for emergencies, and we recommend you have ambulance insurance.
