About this Event
As the FotoFest Biennial 2026 celebrates the history of its and exhibitions—a diverse showcase of contemporary photography emerging from the Meeting Place Portfolio Review—this Inprint Writing Workout invites participants to write in response to a changing world and evolving artistic perspectives reflected in the exhibition series. The curated selection of photographs from the Discoveries of the Meeting Place and Ten by Ten exhibitions, spanning 1986 to the present, will serve as catalysts for guided writing exercises.
Together, we’ll practice close looking and critical noticing. What details shape the meaning of an image? What remains in the background, or outside the frame? How do historical photographs speak to the present moment? What can language reveal, resist, or reimagine that a visual alone cannot? Participants will write into the spaces between observation, reflection, and invention. The session will lead participants through experimenting with expressive writing shaped by attention, curiosity, and a creative transformation of visual experience. No prior creative writing workshop experience needed.
