Convert birdsong to prose with writer Jackie Pavlenko during this series of 2 hour classes across Sutherland.Join Us for a fun and interactive writing class! Quill the Climate Crisis with acclaimed writer, Jackie Pavlenko, on Saturday 8th March, 2-4pm at the YMCA, Golspie .
These classes are focussed on the impact of Climate Change upon Highland Birds - Jackie will pick a bird for each class. Focus on: Seabirds.
In this course, we will explore the beauty and inspiration of birds and use them as a springboard to ignite our creativity in writing. Whether you're a seasoned writer or just starting out, this class is designed to help you tap into the natural world around you and translate t into captivating prose.
Writing about birds in the context of climate change can be an enlightening topic for a classroom discussion. Climate change is having a profound impact on bird populations and their migratory patterns.
Throughout the course, you'll have the opportunity to experiment with different writing styles and techniques, all while honing your skills as a writer.
By the end of the class, you'll have a collection of prose pieces inspired by the plight of birds and a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

ABOUT THE TUTOR:
Jackie is adown-to-earth, friendly, experienced writer and tutor; MA in Screenwriting; writer of award-winning film El Greco, plus many other film, TV and radio productions; professional script development, editing and polishing; drama commissioning and development, BBC TV; online tutor, teens 11-19 years in English Literature and Creative Writing. In all our writing sessions so far, she has inspired all of her students to let their imaginations fly free!
ABOUT FLIGHT PATH:
Through a combination of creative writing workshops, lectures, immersive walks and various mediums of art, we hope to raise awareness and a comprehensive understanding of how climate change is altering the behaviour and distribution of bird species worldwide.
ABOUT THE FUNDER:
Lairg and District Learning Centre, along with 8 other centres throughout Scotland, are delighted to have been awarded a grant from the Scottish Government's £272k Climate Engagement Fund (CEF).
The fund has been set up to increase Climate Change awareness and action in local communities through various activities such as community workshops, podcasts and green festivals, which will be supported from the latest round of Scottish Government funding.
