Do you know that the tradition of literary gatherings originates from France? 🇫🇷As early as the 17th century, intellectuals, writers, and artists would gather in Parisian cafés to write and read their texts, discuss ideas, and inspire one another. These meetings were not merely social events, but vibrant spaces for exchanging thoughts, philosophical debates, and discovering new creative talents. Later, in the 20th century, Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, Jean Cocteau, and Marcel Proust themselves found meaning and inspiration in such literary ateliers.
With utmost passion and devotion, we’ve been keeping a similar tradition right in the heart of Sofia, in our cozy little French corner — Le Soleil. ☀️
📣 This edition of the event will be held entirely in English and is intended for English-speaking participants.
How does the evening unfold?
🟨 18:30 – We gather for a drink, friendly conversation, and creative warm-up;
🟨 19:00 – We begin writing based on a specially prepared creative prompt, unknown in advance;
🟨 Writing time varies between 30 minutes and 1 hour, depending on attendance;
🟨 At the end, we read our pieces aloud — if we wish.

Who is the host?
🟨 Edi Rumyan is a writer who prefers to be introduced as a tennis player or skier, and believes the main flaw of his books is that they were written by him. He has a gift for crafting compelling stories, often playfully engaging the reader, and feels most comfortable wrapped in his cloak of self-irony.
Following the success of his debut short story collection “Banitsa with Turkish Delight,” Edi presents “Last Chance,” once again revealing the magic of the short story with unexpected twists. Readers dive into urban settings across different eras, encountering human destinies and discovering new questions — and answers — about themselves.
Born in 1978, Edi Rumyan graduated from NFSG and later earned a Master’s degree in Industrial Management from the Faculty of Economics at the Technical University of Sofia. He has published in KRAG, GRANTA, the Free Poetic Society platform, and BNR’s Binstory column. His works have appeared in literary formats such as Writers Without Books and Poshtenska Kutia za Prikazki. His story “Banitsa with Turkish Delight” received the honorary jury award at the Agop Melkonyan Competition (2018), and his debut book received a companion award at Southern Spring 2019 in Haskovo.
