Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Jericho Brown will discuss with poet and Emory University professor Robyn Schiff his career as a writer, with a focus on the craft of writing.
Writers on Writing is presented in partnership with StoryStudio Chicago. Perfect for readers and writers alike, these talks celebrate one author’s work—a glimpse behind the creative curtain, a chance to ask questions, and an opportunity to celebrate the art of the written word.
Recent books by both speakers will be available to purchase at the Newberry bookshop, and the authors will sign copies after the talk.

SPEAKER
Jericho Brown is the author of three collections of poetry: The Tradition, a finalist for the 2019 National Book Award and winner of the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry; The New Testament, which won the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award and was named one of the best of the year by Library Journal, Coldfront, and the Academy of American Poets; and Please, which won the 2009 American Book Award. He is the Charles Howard Candler Professor of English and Creative Writing at Emory University and director of the Creative Writing Program.
Robyn Schiff is the author of three poetry collections, Worth, Revolver, and A Woman of Property, which was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, as well as the book-length poem Information Desk: An Epic. The recipient of the 2023 Joseph Brodsky Rome Prize, she is Professor of English Language and Literature and Director of the Program in Creative Writing at the University of Chicago, and she co-edits Canarium Books.
