About this Event
The fastest way to stop waiting for a role is to write one for yourself.
But staring at a blank page alone isn’t the answer.
This 4-week workshop gives you the structure, support, and professional feedback needed to turn a “good idea” into a stage-ready solo piece. You’ll work in a small, focused group, developing your material week by week from first concept to performance.
We’ll guide you through the full process: getting unstuck, shaping your voice on the page, and translating that work into something that lives onstage.
This is a space to build something real, with accountability and momentum.
What You’ll Walk Away With
- A developed solo piece grounded in your voice
- Tools to move past creative blocks and generate material consistently
- Experience translating writing into live performance
- A live showing of a selection of your work
Instructor
Mary Bleier (Celebration Theatre, Women’s Playwright Outreach Project, People’s Playback) has mentored hundreds of solo shows. She specializes in helping artists find their voice through themes of identity, personal truth, and lived experience.
Testimonial
“Working with Mary Bleier is like having a creative fairy godmother in your corner. She mentored me through the development of my original play, Rant, and I’ve never felt so supported and championed while also being challenged to hone and expand my voice. Her guidance leaves a lasting imprint long after the work is done.”
— Julia Hoff, Playwright
