For 125 years, this humble glow has witnessed history, scientific innovation, and the birth of a bustling community. Now it’s your turn to shine! Submit your best haiku inspired by endurance, light, and the passage of time. Let your words illuminate the story of a bulb that never sleeps.Theme: Light That Never Sleeps

Eligibility: Open to all ages and skill levels
Haiku submissions will be collected during the month of May. All entries should be submitted via a form provided on all marketing materials and in the calendar entry on the Library’s website. The contest will run throughout the month of May, closing at 11:59 p.m. on May 31, 2026. Only one entry per person is allowed.
The winner will be selected by City of Livermore Poet Laureate, Peggy Schimmelman, based on the following criteria: creativity and originality, connection to theme, emotional impact and imagery. The winning haiku will be featured in a Library display case at Civic Center Library.
