About this Event
In this three-hour writing workshop, led by writer, storyteller, podcaster, and spiritual mentor Karen Kenney, we create a supportive and focused environment for you to remember your voice and to actively use it. Write Club gives your ideas and stories a fighting chance to finally make it onto the page.
You’ll learn a new approach to creating called Gateless Writing---a methodology that allows you to tap into your innate genius with ease, so you can write the stories you’re destined to tell. This is a supportive and nourishing experience based in creativity, craft, neuroscience, and spirituality. This is what I call a love-centered approach to writing!
We’ll be guided by a proven process and an intentional set of “rules” that are specifically designed to help you quiet the inner critic and let your most powerful work speak.
When we silence the parts of our brains associated with criticism, our writing, our art, and even our lives can reach new heights and depths that expand with creative brilliance! You’ll also get to meet yourself, your writing, your ideas, and your stories with wide-open curiosity, instead of judgment.
There will be a guided relaxation/embodied meditation, followed by a prompted writing session, plus time for participants to read their work and receive feedback from the group, which is free of harsh critiquing or criticism. We only offer positive comments that shine a light on what we loved about the work, what moved us in the piece, where the writing is strong, and where it packed a punch. No knocking down, just generously building each other up!
Together, we’ll create a space of safe communication, encouragement, and trust, so your work can find more momentum, enthusiasm, and freedom.
PS… The first rule of Write Club is to tell everyone about Write Club! So, if you know anyone who you think would dig this experience, please help to spread the word.
Karen Kenney is a writer, storyteller, podcaster, and spiritual mentor. She’s also a certified Gateless Writing Teacher and has been leading writing workshops since 2004.
