For the third time ever, Wells will be holding a wreath laying ceremony to honor our veterans by laying Remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country's fallen heroes. On December 13th, towns and cities around the nation will be holding their own wreath laying ceremonies, and we are so proud that our town, with such rich veteran history and pride, will be joining them. There are over 600 veteran gravesites at Ocean View Cemetery and our goal is to honor each and every one of those who have served. We will be looking for volunteers to help place those wreaths on every veteran grave.
At 11:00 am, Town of Wells Official, the Wells Veterans Committee, Wells Police and Wells Fire Departments will be honoring our veterans with a brief service in the cemetery followed by the placing of several hundred wreaths on the graves. Each wreath placed will be done with honor and grace. Those placing the wreaths will place the wreath carefully and stand back to state the name on the grave before moving on to another tombstone.
It is said that everyone dies twice. The first when their body loses life, and second when their name is spoken for the last time. Stating the name of a loved one at a grave will always ensure that their memory will last forever. Please join us on December 13th for this important celebration of those who have given their lives for us and their country.
