About this Event
Join PlacemakingUS for an evening at one of Long Beach’s most iconic and accessible waterfront spaces, beginning with drinks and bites at Belmont Brewing Company and continuing with a sunset walk on Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier.
In California, no fishing license is required to fish from a public pier. That makes Belmont Pier one of the most democratic spaces on the Long Beach waterfront — used daily by a wide cross-section of the city, especially people often left out of formal planning conversations.
This edition of World of Waterfronts centers the anglers, regulars, and waterfront stewards who know the pier through lived experience. Along the way, we’ll hear stories about fishing, access, public health, changing conditions, and what the pier needs now. We’ll also learn from Heal the Bay’s outreach to pier anglers around water quality and safer fish consumption.
Come walk, listen, and help surface the voices that should shape the future of the pier.
