About this Event
Workshop Description:
Transform worn garments into stunning, one-of-a-kind pieces with handwoven patches! In this creative and beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn how to weave directly onto your clothing using a small portable loom. Whether you’re mending a hole, reinforcing a thinning area, or simply adding a unique decorative element, woven patches bring color, texture, and artistry to your wardrobe.
Each participant will receive a mini loom to use during class—and take home to keep, so you can continue weaving beautiful repairs long after the workshop ends. We’ll guide you through setting up your loom on a garment, selecting yarns/thread, weaving different patterns, and securing your finished patch for a durable and eye-catching effect.
Bring a piece of clothing with an area you’d like to mend (denim, jackets and sturdy woven fabrics & knits work especially well) and leave with a new skill, a finished woven patch, and a tool you can use for future projects.
You’ll Learn:
• How to position and set up a mini loom directly on a garment
• Choosing yarns, colors, and textures for woven patches
• Basic weaving techniques and simple pattern variations
• How to finish, secure, and reinforce your patch
• Tips for creative placement and designing visually striking mends
Ideal For:
Anyone interested in visible mending, fiber arts, sustainable fashion, or exploring weaving in a fresh, tactile way—no experience needed.
Join us to stitch, weave, and create repairs that are both functional and beautifully expressive!
