About this Event
Join us in-person on Friday April 11 at 5:00-6:30pm in the Crosby Seminar Room, Northrop Hall, or on Zoom for a book launch that will be "worthy of the event"!
Vivian Blaxell, author of Worthy of the Event: An Essay, is the new queer literary superstar, "a 21st Century Proust committed to TMI" (Dodie Bellamy), her book "the most provoking writing I've read in so long" (Trish Salah)
Engaging in sparkling conversation with luminaries of the transgender intellegensia, Vivian will be all over the United States and Canada this spring, and we do not exaggerate when we say these are HISTORIC OCCURENCES! Probably you will be reminiscing about them with nostalgia and fondness on your death bed!
For this leg of her North American tour, Vivian Blaxell will be joined by Assocaite Professor and Chair of Gender Women and Sexuality Studies, Aren Aizura. Don't miss TWO Australian "trans elders" talking about Vivian's book and the state of trans lit in the world today.
Courtesy of Moon Palace Books, copies of Worthy of the Event will be on sale at the event.
About Vivian Blaxell: Vivian Blaxell grew up in rural Australia and co-founded Tiresias House, Australia’s first shelter and resource centre for and by trans people. Her essay "Nuclear Cats" was shortlisted for the 2021 Melbourne Prize for Literature. She lives in Naarm/Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Masks encouraged!
