Minneapolis Mosaic Class (FULL, please see other dates!)

Create a beautiful, one-of-a-kind mosaic with local artist, Sharra Frank. This class will take place in Stellar Handcrafted Goods in the Waterbury Building in the NE Minneapolis Arts District.
You will select a frame shape from an array of “Sharra’s Shapes”, a custom line mosaic substrates made from high grade baltic birch plywood. After an introduction to mosaics and color inspiration, you will select your materials from a treasure trove of tile, beads, stained glass, china and more.
This class introduces both technical and artistic skills.
Students will learn:
About the variety of Mosaic Materials.
About several different adhesives, benefits of each.
Mosaic Tools, when and how to use them.
How to cut glass with a wheeled nipper and glass scorer.
How to work with beads of all sizes.
How to cut a piece of china and shape it.
How to create paper tiles using paper under glass.
How to use Apoxie Clay as a grout less mosaic adhesive.
How to design a mosaic with a "WOW" factor.
And more!

Feel free to bring treasures, doo-dads, old jewels, buttons and china to incorporate.
Students will also receive a Mosaic Resource and Materials Guide as well, a PDF download with links to all recommended tools and materials.
Beginner to experienced mosaic students are all welcome!

Your Instructor
Sharra started her mosaic teaching career in 2003 by offering her classes through Minneapolis Community Ed classes and local art centers. She then established a private teaching studio while also creating original and commissioned mosaics for hospitals, designers, nonprofits and private collectors. Sharra expanded to online teaching in 2011, reaching thousands of students globally while also traveling the US to offer specialized mosaic workshops at professional mosaic conferences and mosaic schools.
