Commemorate World Refugee Day 2021 in this unique and moving exhibition.
Ever wonder why refugees exist? Who are these people and why should we care about them?
Throughout history, there have been refugees, people forced to flee their homes for various reasons. A celebrated early example are Jesus, Mary and Joseph, who left Bethlehem for Egypt to escape King Herod. Other famous refugees include Albert Einstein and Bob Marley.
Today, Southeast Asia is the world’s fifth largest source of refugees, who are from Myanmar. The others are from Syria, Venezuela, Afghanistan, and South Sudan, according to the UNHCR. The situation is set to get worse after the military coup, with up to 48% living in poverty in the country next year, according to the UNDP.
To learn more about refugees and what you can do about this humanitarian crisis, please join us for a World Refugee Day exhibition, where you can meet, listen, watch and feel the words and music of refugees from all over the world.
Indulge in activities of geopolitical references like Erasure (flag eraser wrestling) and a letter writing workshop!
