World of Twist Returns - Saturday 6th September - Save the Date!We’re back at our favourite dancehall, The Rum Shack, spinning our usual global groove heaters and distant rhythms all night long. This time, joined by ButhoTheWarrior on the decks!
Originally from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe’s cultural heart, Butho - known for his vibrant style in both sound and fashion - plays diverse global sound sets that are rich with high-hitting vocals, taking you on a soulful and spiritual rhythmic journey through African grooves, psychedelia, disco, house, and jazz.
Through his JAIVA residency at Sub Club, he’s built a space that champions heritage and community - celebrating both upcoming and pioneering artists - all grounded in the roots of Black music.
After we warmed up for Awesome Tapes From Africa at JAIVA, it only felt right to invite Butho to join us next.
Expect everything from Middle Eastern, North African, and South Asian grooves and psychedelia to Bollywood, African Highlife, Brazilian Tropicália, Colombian Cumbia, and Tropical Disco. Get those feet moving, shoulders shaking, and good energy flowing all around as Butho joins residents Jamo Kidd and How Bizarre.
