About this Event
World Migratory Bird Day is a special day to celebrate these incredible birds and help protect them. This year, we're focusing on community participation to help collect data of the many birds that come through the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
Join a 1-hour Volunteer led Bird Walk along the King Gillette Ranch property. Learn about what birds are flying within the Santa Monica Mountain National Recreation Area. Common resident birds seen on this walk are House Finch, Red-tailed Hawk, Acron Woodpeckers, etc. As well as the migratory birds that travel through our Mountians! Meet at the flagpole 10-15 minutes before program begins.
Stick around after the walk to learn how your participation helps scientist understand the patterns and behaviors of Migratory birds. We will be giving out Migratory Bird Day items. This will be taking place at the front courtyard of the Visitor Center sign.
