WHAT'S IN THE ROOM? with Maiko Yamamoto

About the workshop:
This 2-hour workshop will explore aspects of facilitator Maiko Yamamoto's artistic practice, specifically methodologies for collaborative material making.
Things to bring:
Participants should come prepared to move a little, as well as to write in whatever way feels comfortable (such as: a pen + paper, computer, voice memo, etc.).
About the facilitator:
Maiko Yamamoto is the Artistic Director of Vancouver's Theatre Replacement. A leader in the local and national arts scenes and known internationally for her work, Maiko’s practice draws upon her love of formal inventiveness and exploration, conceptual play, creative research, artist-centred processes and experimental and multidisciplinary practice. A natural mentor, Yamamoto often collaborates with intergenerational artists, individuals and family members in making work that searches for playful, immediate and authentic ways of bringing audiences and performances together.

Intrepid Studio (1609 Blanshard St #2)
Intrepid Studio has level access to the building with a slight lip to go over when passing through the door. It also has two single user, all gender washrooms, one of which is wheelchair accessible. The lobby is fully wheelchair accessible. The stage is on one level and is wheelchair accessible.

Parking & Transit: There is a small, free parking lot in front of Intrepid.Some of the BC transit bus routes that run near Intrepid Theatre are:#6 along Quadra St, #2, 27 & 28 along Pandora Ave, #4, 11, 30, 31, 50, 70, and others along Douglas St.

Workshop Access Program
Impulse Theatre, and Peek Fest, seeks to create an anti-oppressive and queer-positive space for artists within the community. Impulse Theatre is pleased to offer up to 2 paid ($40) spots to arts workers who identify as queer, trans, non-binary, Indigenous, Black, a person of colour, neurodivergent, d/Deaf and/or disabled. Participants are limited to 2 workshops each.
Intake is on a first-come; first served basis until all spots are filled.
