NEW! A beginner's watercolor workshop.
New to watercolor? Need a helpful review of what you know? Join our new Watercolor Basics workshop to learn tips and techniques. Here, you'll become better acquainted with a few key concepts that will make working in the watercolor medium so much easier. These pointers will remove a lot of the stumbling blocks for a beginner so you can more easily begin to create and paint. Key tips covered are the paints (brands, pan vs. tube; quality), palettes (why mixing area is so important), brushes (choosing types, brands, proper handling and care) and the best choices in watercolor papers.
This class will give you the confidence to begin to explore more of the watercolor world, or make your participation in our Nature Journaling with Watercolor classes a better experience!
$25. The basic equipment you will need is provided. You may also bring any supplies you may already have and are used to, so you are better prepared when you arrive. All other supplies are included. If you have questions regarding supplies, please contact us before attending the class. PLEASE NOTE: Our special introductory class is limited to 10 students so that everyone receives the best in one-on-one instruction, and is best suited for attendees 16 and up.
PLEASE NOTE: This introductory class is a separate, optional workshop. Our monthly Nature Inspired Journaling with Watercolor workshop follows at 2:00pm.
Marian Hirsch is a full time professional artist and teaches regularly at North Haven Gardens. She devotes her time to on location painting capturing the ever-changing color and mood of the world we live in. These plein air studies provide the foundation for her color-rich watercolor and pastel landscapes, which are composed and created in her studio. Marian is a signature member and longtime active member of Southwestern Watercolor Society, and articles about her paintings have been published in Artist's Magazine, American Artist, International Artist Magazine and the Pastel Journal. She has resided in the North Texas area since graduating from Southern Methodist University with a degree in Fine Art.
