Phenomenal Womxn Poetry Festival presents “Season Your Sentences” Hosted by Arianna Brown

About This Workshop: This generative writing workshop focuses on teaching poets how to "season" their sentences in poems. We will take inspiration from the master of slam poetry and figurative language herself, Patricia Smith, as we learn to say the straightforward thing and dress it up in our best figurative language, imagery, and playful writing. This is a process in learning how to have fun with language and experimenting until you find the right way to express something. Ideal for poets who want to write new work or revise an old poem to make it stronger. This workshop supports womxn writers by focusing our attention on one of the greatest womxn to ever own a stage in a poetry slam: Patricia Smith.

About the Phenomenal Womxn Festival: The Phenomenal Womxn Poetry Festival is a bold, empowering 3-day celebration of womxn and femme voices taking up space in Las Vegas. Featuring workshops, powerful panels, curated open mics, and the first-ever all-womxn regional poetry slam to hit the city. Poets across genres — page, stage, experimental, and everything in between — will gather in the heart of the Arts District, activating beloved local spaces like Third Street, Taverna Costera, Suite 150, Analog Dope, and That Chapel. We’ll close the weekend with a special headlining performance from powerhouse poet Yesika Salgado, followed by an unforgettable final-stage slam where one poet will claim $3,000 and the title of 2026 Phenomenal Womxn Champion.
