Fahrettin Yarkın is a renowned Turkish percussionist widely recognized for his expertise in traditional Turkish rhythmic cycles (“usûl”) and his influential book The Usul in Turkish Music. He has worked internationally with leading artists such as Jordi Savall, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Cinuçen Tanrıkorur, Kudsi Ergüner, İhsan Özgen, André Rieu, Jack DeJohnette… and is considered an authority in the field.
The seminar focuses on Turkish usûl, the foundational rhythmic patterns of Ottoman and Turkish classical music. Participants will explore the theory and practice of these rhythms in depth, with hands-on guidance from Yarkın.
