Join us for a hands-on ribbon embellishment workshop designed to elevate your sewing and costuming projects. It is one thing to make a pretty ribbon flower to embellish a hat or adorn a bodice; it is entirely another if you want to surround a neckline or the hem of a skirt. This half-day workshop provides the basic instruction to make a half-dozen different embellishments and variations on those foundational designs.
Students will be provided with all of the ribbons needed for the workshop, along with a detailed handout and personalized instruction throughout the class.
Materials to bring:
Hem gauge (if you have one; alternatives will be provided if not)
Scissors
Needles (embroidery needles work well)
Pins and thread (any color)
Ticket Cost: $20
About the Instructor:
Sue McDonald is an avid costumer and long-time seamstress with a special interest in creating the finishing touches that bring a costume to life. She has taught for many years at Costume College in Los Angeles, offering classes on projects such as beaded bead hatpins, Victorian and Edwardian purses, carpet bags, and buckram hats. Her current passion is producing period garments that “might have been” real vintage pieces. She now lives in Prescott, Arizona, where she creates garments for local re-enactment groups.
