About this Event
Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day with Little Forests Kingston and the 1000 Islands Master Gardeners by learning how to design and plant a hedgerow for migratory and breeding birds. Hedgerows are living fences that bring birds, bees and beauty to our yards and our city.
Residents of the City of Kingston - thanks to the generosity of the City - are eligable to receive the gift of a pocket forest of up to 15 trees and shrubs for their own bird friendly living fence. And thanks to the generosity of Nature Canada, participants are also eligable for another surprise gift!
This hands-on workshop is for residents of the City of Kingston.

One of the many birds you'll attract with a hedgerow is the Northern Cardinal, who prefers to spend most of their time in hedgerows.
During the workshop, we'll plant 46 trees and shrubs in this collaboration between two neighbours. Below the shrub and tree layer we’ll plant native perennials as a soft landing, to provide additional food for adult and baby birds, and for aesthetic appeal.
