About this Event
Collage poetry is poetry that has been constructed rather than invented. This is a distinction similar to the difference between a drawing and a collage. A drawing is completely fabricated by the artist while a collage is constructed from preexisting parts which have been carefully or even haphazardly arranged. These arrangements are often disjointed, surprising and serendipitous. Collage poetry is an exercise in collage where the author, being a collage artist or not, constructs snippets and clippings of gathered phrases and lines of text from a variety of sources. The resultant combinations often yield surprising, humorous, insightful, ambiguous and intriguing composites.

Collage Working Club (CWC) is a weekly open workspace for artists working in the medium of paper. Organised in the format of alternate ‘drop in’ sessions and workshops masterclasses, it has both a regular facilitator, whilst also involving the artist community in the sharing of knowledge and skills. Providing materials, education and connections is the primary aim of CWC, and it will do this through the interdisciplinary art of collage as both an art form and a tool for personal growth.
