Sliding scale contribution :
We use a sliding scale contribution, so we can pay the increasing prices of everything and still be affordable for people who have less to spend.
If you can afford to help us, your higher contribution is very much appreciated. All of this is used to cover the expenses, mainly rent of the studio and honorarium for the teacher and musician.

Jam only : €5.00 to €12.00

About the workshop by Thomas Körtvélyessy :
"Skin and bones (and all the rest ... )"
How can we work more consciously with our skin, bones, muscles, tendons, also when it comes to "classic" moves that have developed in contactimprovisation, such as riffing and lifting? And what about the use of momentum with all of the above?
From sensing and direct touch to the cat/table, rolling and swinging, this workshop will explore very fundamental aspects of dance technique and at the same time offer the fun of discovery and experimentation at your own level of comfort and ability.
This is a masking-friendly event.
About Thomas Körtvélyessy :
Thomas is a longtime dance-artist in Rotterdam developing his own syllabus for contactimprovisation based on Kinetic Awareness and BodyMindCentering with elements from related movement techniques.
Next to being a member of and teacher at Contact Zone Rotterdam, he is an external guide teacher at ArtEZ Dance Academy Arnhem and a Certified Teacher of Kinetic Awareness, a sensory-based and systematic student-centered exploration of individual movement abilities.

Pre-register and pay :
You can register via the website. You will receive instructions via e-mail in response to pay with a Tikkie or bank transfer. That saves you and us time and hassle in the studio.
It is also possible to participate spontaneously and to come to the studio without prior registration and to pay cash or digitally.
Practical :
Everyone is welcome, beginner, advanced or something in between. For beginners it is advisable to also participate in the workshop if you want to come to the jam.
The studio is within walking distance of Rotterdam Central. If you come by car, you may find a parking space via the site prettig parkeren. You can also park on the edge of the city and take a tram for the last stretch.
Autonomy and safety :
You have full control over your experience and learning process during Contact Zone activities. You can choose your own path at any time, skip an exercise quietly, or decline a dance.
Take good care of your own health, especially if you have an injury.
We look out for each other, but remember that you are the ultimate authority when it comes to your safety and well-being. There are not always breaks, so you can find your moment to have a drink or go to the toilet.
Frequently asked advice about clothing :
It works best if you choose flexible clothing that is soft, without buttons and zippers, stays in place and covers you sufficiently. We dance without shoes. Some wear soft dancing shoes or knee pads.
Potluck dinner :
The communal dinner is optional, you're welcome to join if you like. Please bring something to contribute, just a little more than you'd eat yourself. Vegetarian and vegan food would be best so everybody can share.
