One of the common challenges when cooking on a budget is the feeling that meals can become repetitive or bland. Yet some of the most flavourful dishes around the world are built from simple, affordable ingredients brought to life with herbs and spices. This workshop celebrates the way different cultures approach food and flavour. We will explore how a small collection of herbs, spices and seasoning techniques can transform everyday ingredients into something far more interesting.
Participants will learn how these ingredients can be used confidently without needing specialist knowledge or expensive products. Even a simple dish can take on a completely different character with the right balance of seasoning.
Our trainer, Shaun, will show you how to save both time and money. No prior cooking experience needed - this event is suitable for anyone.
The Community Foundation for Wakefield District regularly runs skills for life workshops that can make a genuine difference to everyday life. For example, when people feel confident in the kitchen, it becomes easier to manage household budgets, reduce stress around food and build habits that support longer-term stability.
This workshop is funded by Sainsbury's Good Food For All.
