Eating well shouldn't be a luxury, yet many people feel that healthy food is out of reach when budgets are tight. In reality, many simple ingredients can provide nourishing meals that support overall wellbeing without costing a great deal.In this workshop we explore affordable dishes built around vegetables, grains, beans and other everyday ingredients that provide the body with the nutrients it needs. We will also discuss how regular home-cooked meals can support the immune system and help people rely less on highly processed foods.
Small choices in the kitchen can make a big difference. Participants will leave with practical ideas for meals that are both affordable and satisfying.
Our trainer, Shaun, will show you how to save both time and money. No prior cooking experience needed - this event is suitable for anyone.
The Community Foundation for Wakefield District regularly runs skills for life workshops that can make a genuine difference to everyday life. For example, when people feel confident in the kitchen, it becomes easier to manage household budgets, reduce stress around food and build habits that support longer-term stability.
This workshop is funded by Sainsbury's Good Food For All.
