Join our two-day intensive workshop led by Benedetto Sicca and hosted by TIM Studio, focuses on the preparation and staging of a theatrical monologue in English, with the concrete goal of shaping a piece that can be confidently used for auditions and international calls. 🎭At our intensive workshop each participant will work on one self-chosen monologue (maximum length: 4–5 minutes), developed across the two days starting from a shared interpretation of the reference text and from the individual interpretative desire brought by each actor. The monologue is not imposed from the outside, but constructed through a dialogue between textual analysis, intention, and scenic action. ✏️
Who it is for❓
👉 Actors with basic to intermediate experience
👉 Performers interested in working in English as a non-native language
👉 Those preparing for or approaching international auditions
Working in a language that is not one’s mother tongue is approached as a specific opportunity: a condition that can sharpen attention, deepen listening, and increase adherence to the text and the character, rather than aiming for linguistic “fluency”, the workshop focuses on clarity, responsibility, and precision of choice. ✨
The process moves from understanding what is at stake in the text to deciding how and why this actor chooses to speak it now. Particular attention is given to the beginning, development, and ending of the monologue — often the most fragile and decisive moments. 💥
Although the work on stage is individual, it is always framed as a collective learning process. Each session is structured so that the technical and poetic questions emerging from one actor’s work become a shared resource for the group. 🤝
Participants will leave with a monologue that is fully constructed in its choices, repeatable, and ready to be used in an audition context. 🎬
What we will work on❓
📌 Preparing and staging a theatrical monologue in English
📌 Developing one monologue per participant (maximum length: 4–5 minutes)
📌 Building the work from a shared reading of the text and an articulated interpretative desire
📌 Exploring how acting in a non-native language can strengthen focus and presence
📌 Text analysis in relation to action, rhythm, space, and intention
📌 Shaping a monologue that is clear, grounded, and audition-ready
