About this Event

A new training course from Content Design London, delivered by Giles Turnbull and Use the human voice

Learn how to document your work as it happens, build your strategy as a narrative, and create an archive of history and ideas for the benefit of colleagues you haven't hired yet.

With a mixture of theory and practice, you'll gain an insight into how good open communication is done, and how you can apply it in your organisation.

If your problem is: "People don't understand us, and we don't know why," this course can help.

What you'll learn:

At the end of the 2 days, you will know:

  • what good, clear, human communication looks like,
  • some simple techniques to make it happen,
  • how to apply those techniques to your circumstances,
  • why and how to use a blog as an archive for institutional memory,
  • how to lessen the burden of writing and editing within a team,
  • what permission you need to seek out and grant,
  • how to start writing some terrible first drafts (and why that’s a good thing).

You don't have to be a content designer, a writer or a comms person to attend this course. It's useful to people in all those professions, but also useful for:

  • team, department or organisation leaders
  • UX, UCD, technology, design and delivery people
  • anyone working in a team that's struggling to explain itself

How you'll learn

The course is taught face-to-face in a class no bigger than 16 people. Over the 2 days, you'll work individually, in pairs and in small breakout groups. There will be plenty of chances to ask questions about things that relate directly to your work.

There will be some writing tasks to complete. You can use pen and paper (which we will provide), or bring any device you prefer to write on. There will be wifi.

About your trainer
