Dick Bright
is a multi-talented musician, bandleader, and actor who has been a beloved figure in the Bay Area entertainment scene for many years. He first gained widespread recognition in 1974 as the musical director for the Bay Area Music Awards, known as the BAMMIES, where his thirty-piece rock and roll orchestra backed local legends like Bonnie Raitt, Carlos Santana, and Huey Lewis for twelve consecutive years.
In 1984, Dick became the musical director of the Fairmont Hotel’s iconic Venetian Room, collaborating with legendary artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett, B.B. King, and James Brown.
In addition to his musical career, Dick is also a professional actor, with appearances in films like Mrs. Doubtfire alongside Robin Williams and Metro featuring Eddie Murphy.
Currently, Dick leads several bands, including the Dick Bright Trio, Club 90—a nine-piece contemporary R&B show band that performs for major corporations worldwide—and the Dick Bright Orchestra, a staple at many popular San Francisco events. He is also known for his performances of the national anthem at games for the Giants, Warriors, and Forty Niners.
Adding author to his list of accomplishments, Dick has published his first book, Workin’ For A Livin’: Makin’ It In The Music Business, a “how-to” guide for aspiring musicians on making a living as a professional musician.
