Join Jews On Ohlone Land, and Kehilla Community Synagogue for an outdoor, family friendly, community Tashlich ritual. Tashlich is the tradition of casting into the water the mistakes we’ve made over the last year, and cleansing ourselves to begin anew.We will gather at the newly-rematriated West Berkeley Shellmound at 1900 Fourth Street at 10:30 am for a short program, then head over towards the Berkeley Marina around 11:15, arriving there around 11:45 for a self-directed Tashlich ritual and noon closing circle, followed by a BYO picnic lunch. To find us at the Berkeley Marina, look for us between the Cal Adventures East Dock and Shorebird Beach. The path to the sandy area is bumpy; an accessible place to do Tashlich is from the dock.
Please be mindful with what you bring to throw in the water for your Tashlich. Bread and non-biodegradable materials can disrupt the ecosystem; consider using small rocks and leaves. You’re also welcome to bring a shofar to blow at our closing circle at the Marina. Bring a blanket or camp chairs to sit on.
No tickets required.
***This event will be outside, so we recommend that you bring layers (it may be cold).***
