About this Event
Funds generated by this event will be donated to the Migrant Solidarity Mutual Aid Network.
Celebrate the annual return of migratory birds with a dawn hike and a generative writing workshop. We'll follow the paved hiking trail that runs along the creek for about a mile before returning to Peirce Mill. Along the way, we'll use our surroundings and bird sightings to generate a word bank.
Back at Peirce Mill, we'll use our word banks in a generative session so that every attendee can write a brand new piece before most of the DMV has had their first cup of coffee; please forgive this: the early bird gets the word.
Words from Birds is led by local writer Foley O'Brien. Foley is an eco-advocate whose writing has received support from The Kenyon Review Writers Workshop, Electric Literature's education partner Writing Workshops Iceland, and One Story's Writing Circle.
