Words and Music @ MILK Café is a spoken word and music open mic night. We meet up on the 1st Monday of every month as we have done for over 30 years. Starts at 7pm and ends at 9pm, though please let us know if you’re running late or need to leave early. Hosted by poets Jen Hughes and Gayle Smith. (PLEASE NOTE: We no longer meet at the Victoria Road location, we are now based on 378 Cathcart Road, Glasgow.)
A product of Glasgow’s Year of Culture, we started meeting at Sammy Dows in 1990. Since then, we have been the home of many talented creative people who we’ve seen grow as performers. We’re excited to go forward into 2023, greeting new faces and reuniting with familiar ones. Bring along your songs, poems, stories, comedy, friends and audience members!
Slots are five minutes. Please get in touch with us to guarantee a slot. Our contact details are below. Those who turn up on the night are on a first come first serve basis so make.
MILK Cafe makes some great hot drinks and a daily selection of home baking. Cold drinks are also available for those who’d like. If you've got any questions for them, including allergies and dietary requirements, get in touch with them. (Contact details below)
As we want to create a safe space for those to express themselves, we won't tolerate hate speech. Including racism, transphobia, homophobia, sexism, bigotry and ableism. We'd much rather share the love than stoke the hate. If you need to step out for some fresh air at any time, you're free to do so.
